The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team traveled to Pekin High School Saturday afternoon to take on the Dragons. The Streaks suffered their 3rd loss on the season in a nail-biter that went down to the final 5-seconds with the Dragons leading by three. As time expired, Galesburg took a 3-point shot that was just off the mark and Pekin went on to win, 41 - 38.
Galesburg held Pekin to only 2 field goals in the second half, but it was the 8 points scored from the free throw line that made the difference for the Dragons. The Streaks finished 15 of 38 from the field, 4 of 13 from 3-point range, and just 4 of 14 from the free throw line. They had 24 rebounds, 9 assists and 13 turnovers. Pekin scored 12 of 13 field goals, 4 of 9 from the 3-point line, and where the game was won, 13 of 23 from the free throw line. Dragons had 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 14 turnovers.
For contributing 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals in the game, Jozalyn Kilgore was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game.
