The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team remains perfect in the Western Big 6 with a road victory over Rock Island, 47-33. The Streaks had another dominant defensive performance. They held Rock Island to just 33 field goal attempts all night and forced 29 turnovers. The Streaks remain working together as a unit leading them to a 6-0 record in the conference as the New Year approaches. The Streaks improve their overall record to 10-1.
The Streaks went 19 of 53 from the field, 1 of 15 from three, and 8 of 15 from the free throw line. They grabbed 32 rebounds and had 8 assists. Jozalyn Kilgore led the Streaks in scoring with 18 points with 14 being scored in the second half. The Streaks defense held Rock Island to 14 of 33 shooting, 2 of 6 from three, and 1 of 4 at the free throw line. Rock Island had 22 rebounds and just 1 assist as the Lady Rocks fall to 2-4 in the conference and 5-7 overall.
Ella Herchenroder was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She had a commanding presence on the court all night that helped guide the Streaks to victory. She finished the night with 8 points, 8 steals, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.
