The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team lost to Rock Island, 50 - 47, at John Thiel Gym on Saturday in a Western Big 6 match-up. The loss takes the Streaks out of contention of tying for the conference title with Sterling, who are now the outright conference champs.
The Silver Streaks struggled getting the ball in the basket, shooting only 16 of 67 from the field, missing 51 shots. The team was 6 of 23 from the 3-point line and 9 of 16 from the free throw line. Galesburg finished the game with 34 rebounds, 11 assists, and turned the ball over 15 times. The Streaks were led in scoring by Ella Herchenroder with 12 points, Zaniyah Carter and Lily Furrow both scored 8 points, Grace Herchenroder and Sophia Kisler had 6 points each, and both Josslyn Peck and Taylor Herchenroder finished with 2 points.
Ella Herchenroder was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. All-around great contributions from Ella throughout the game, finishing with 12 points, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds.
