In their second meeting this year, the Galesburg High School girls basketball team dominated the United Township Panthers, 57-25, in a Western Big 6 Conference match-up at John Thiel Gym on Saturday. The Streaks' smothering defense held the Panthers scoreless in the 1st quarter, 29-0, and forced 34 turnovers in the game.
The scoring for Galesburg was a balanced team effort with Jozalyn Kilgore scoring 11 points, Grace Herchenroder contributed 9, Ella Herchenroder finished with 8, Cora Johnson scored 7, Lily Furrow had 6 points, Zeniyah Carter and Ryleigh Clark each put up 5 points, and Khloe May finished with 3 points. The Streaks improved at the free throw line this game shooting 50%.
Grace Herchenroder was awarded the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She had a great game overall and scored the basket in the 4th quarter that pushed the Streaks lead to 30 points and forced the running clock.
