At the Manual Shootout Saturday afternoon, the Galesburg boys basketball team played very well and put in a strong effort, but ultimately lost to Peoria High, 69-63. The Silver Streaks are now 5 - 18 on the season.
Galesburg finished the game 24 of 52 from the field, 12 of 26 from 3-point range, and were 3 of 8 for free throws. The Streaks out rebounded the Lions 28 to 23 and only had 4 more turnovers than them with 14. Part of the scoring difference was in free throws, as Peoria High made 15 of the 21 attempts that they had.
For the Silver Streaks, Jackson Crock Sibbing had a career high 29 points in the game, including 7 of 11 3-point shooting. For his inspired play, Jackson was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. In the 3rd quarter alone, he scored 11 of the Streaks' 12 points for the quarter, keeping Galesburg within striking distance. Tyree Taylor also had a career high with 19 points and he also had 10 rebounds for a double-double. Ian Dominique returned to the court for the first time in several weeks due to an injury and scored 3 points. Senior Gino Williams did not play in the game due to being ejected from Friday (1/26) night's game with a double technical.
