In the Regional Championship game Thursday night at John Thiel Gym, the Galesburg girls basketball team struggled to put points on the board and fell to the Morton Potters, 41-29. A great season comes to an end for Galesburg with a record of 26-7.
The only player with double-digits scoring for the Silver Streaks was Kiarra Kilgore with 10 points, along with 4 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist. Antonia Kisler scored 8 points and had 2 rebounds, 5 points for Jozalyn Kilgore off the bench along with 3 rebounds and an assist, Alexis Edgerson scored 3 points and so did Ella Herchenroder along with 2 rebounds and an assist.
In the 3rd quarter, a key play by freshman Jozalyn Kilgore got the Streaks right back in the game. Jozalyn had an offensive rebound and put-back where she got fouled for a traditional three-point play, and at that point in the game, kept the Streaks in it. So for her great effort coming off the bench, Jozalyn Kilgore was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game.
The high school basketball careers come to an end for Silver Streaks seniors Kiarra Kilgore, Antonia Kisler, Alexis Edgerson, Syriah Boyd and Addison Peck. Kiarra has plans to play college basketball at Missouri School of Science and Technology, and Antonia will be playing for Carl Sandburg College.
