The scam spectrum: From love to taxes

Looking for love? Better Business Bureau recommends looking out for romance scams when dating online, as AI tools and cryptocurrency are lending new dimensions to old scams.

Don O'Brien, Galesburg native and regional director with Better Business Bureau, joined WGIL's Tyler Gumm and Jay Redfern on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about romance and tax scams.

Tax scams are often as predictable as taxes themselves; they reappear each tax season with a slightly different spin, but the central theme is scammers posing as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) trying to trick people into paying up or sharing personal information.
