Winning Streak For The Galesburg Girls Basketball Team Continues At Geneseo

The Galesburg girls basketball team notched another win on the season and in the Western Big 6 Saturday afternoon with a win over the Geneseo Maple Leafs, 57-20. The Silver Streaks remain undefeated at 10-0 on the season with half of those wins against Western Big 6 conference opponents. The Maple Leafs drop to 4-5 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.
The Streaks were led by Alexis Edgerson with 18 points, including 4 three-pointers, along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists . Kiarra Kilgore tallied 12 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Antonia Kisler finished with 4 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal. Coming off the bench, Jozalyn Kilgore scored 7 points, and Cora Johnson and Julia Robinson both contributed 5 points. Overall, the Silver Streaks shot 45% from the field. Galesburg did a nice job controlling the basketball, only giving up 9 turnovers to Geneseo's 19. The Streaks out-rebounded the Maple Leafs, 27-21. And with a 30-point lead going into the 4th quarter, they finished out the game with a continuous clock.
For sparking the Silver Streaks and carrying the bulk of the offense for a couple of quarters, Senior Alexis Edergson was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. With her 18 points scored, Alexis was 4 for 6 from inside the arc, 2 for 2 from distance, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line. She scored half of the Streaks points in the first half, and added 5 more points in the 2nd half without playing in the 4th quarter.
